Joy
You make known to me the path of life; in Your presence there is fullness of joy.
Psalm 16:11
Joy is a hallmark of the Christmas season, but it’s more than fleeting happiness that comes from the gift-givings and delicious food in parties left and right. True joy comes from God’s presence. The shepherds experienced this when the angel announced Jesus’ birth, saying, “I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people” (Luke 2:10). Imagine the people back then, after centuries of waiting, the promised Savior has finally come!
Joy is more than just being happy—it’s a special kind of happiness that comes from knowing that Jesus loves us. This joy is unshakable even in difficult times because it’s rooted in the knowledge that God is with us and for us.
As we go through Advent, we are reminded that this joy isn’t dependent on our circumstances but on the unchanging truth of Jesus’ love for us. When we take time to pause and reflect on what He has done, we can find reasons to celebrate even in life’s challenges. The joy of the Lord is our strength, empowering us to face each day with gratitude and hope. Advent reminds us to celebrate the good news of Jesus, letting His joy fill us and overflow to others through our lives.
What is one way you can share God’s joy with someone this week?
