“Adventus” means “coming” or “arrival.” During advent, we prepare as we celebrate Jesus’ coming to earth when He was birthed as a baby. Counter to the busyness of Christmas—parties left and right, getting gifts for everyone and wanting everything personalized at that, setting up our homes with Christmas decors, beefing up the noche buena menu, and the hours on the bumper-to-bumper roads—it’s one of the best times to pause and reflect on God’s love for us.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
John 3:16-17
