This story never gets old. Reposting this from my old blog which I wrote a few years back.
2011/2012. It was that time of the year when we usually go to Laguna. One of the things I don’t miss out on there is a food trip! I usually eat ice scramble, but that year, I couldn’t find any so I just ate dirty ice cream.
When it was my turn, the manong sorbetero used a different “tool”. Using the tool, instead of scooping out ice cream, he had to scrape small bits off from the container and place it on the cone. In my head, I was getting impatient of the unusually longer time it took, and I thought, “Is your scooper broken? Do you know what you’re doing? It’s taking so much time! Do you need me to help you?” I almost bailed out of the wait and glad thing I didn’t because it turned out like this (your right):
How many times have I asked God, “Do you know what you’re doing?” and how many times have I tried to “help Him” when it felt like it took so long? And how many times have I been glad that I did not bail out on His calling!
Manong sorbetero did not love me, but he took time and made something special for me. How much more can the God who loves me, who did not withhold His own Son for me, oh how much more can God do?
Those who know Your name will trust in You,
for You, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek You.
