37 weeks today! Since the start of the third trimester it felt like a looooong way to get to full term. They also say over 50% of multiples are birthed before week 37. Yet here we are, and it’s looking like we’ll be on schedule for our week 38 CS op. 🙏🏻
A lot of preps took a while in this pregnancy because of a whole lot of other things going on, and also because as much as I want to fix things I could only do so much. I was easily getting physically tired despite the nursing instinct kick. But thank God who has kept these boys unhurried to come out, giving us time to prep Noah and Ethan, our home, and decide on the twins’ names.
The names of our children have always been prayerfully sought and we consider them a declaration of their identity and inheritance in Christ.
Name Drop
One day as I was driving home from work, I was praying for a name for the twins like the other times and finally, the name “Cape” felt like a drop from heaven. I looked at where the word came from—”head”—and declared that Cape will be a leader of leaders. One of the twins have been very active than the other, and it felt like that little boy was the one we’re to name Cape.
A few days after, Pao also felt like “gift of God” was a God-given declaration. He was right, we really didn’t plan for Ethan to be a kuya, at least not too soon, and so the twins were God’s unexpected gift to our family. Theo is a name with this meaning and it sat well with both of us. Now both boys have names. Cape and Theo. 💙💙
While they are twins, we also believe they were each uniquely and wonderfully made by God with different identities, wirings, and even their own paths laid out for them. There were more moments too when I can distinguish who’s who in there. It’s just amazing how God’s gift of life comes forth!
The Twin Boys Opportunity: Naming After Their Lolos
God has also given both Pao and I great earthly fathers. It’s not always that you can name your kids after their grandparents at the same time (unless of course we use both for one child), and so we took this opportunity to honor our dads and name the twins after them—for Lolo Pete, Peter, and for Lolo Martin, Marty. Peter and Marty. 💙💙 I don’t know why we give two names per child but it is what it is. 😅
Peter Cape
Dear Cape,
You are one who is headstrong for the things of God. You have a God-given gift of leadership and will be a leader of leaders. Just like your Lolo Pete, you are naturally wired with diligence and a drive for excellence as you do everything that you will unto the Lord, and you will also have compassion for people and live a life of generosity. Your leadership brings stability and direction coming from wisdom from the Lord. You will lead with skillful hands and integrity of heart.
Marty Theo
Dear Theo,
You are God’s gift to us and will be a blessing to many people groups. Wherever you set your feet on, people will feel God’s presence and love. You are a warrior in the spirit and will win many battles for God. Just like your Lolo Ma, you have a pure heart and are always ready to serve and help others. God will keep exalting you in many areas because you are always humble before Him. You are a faithful steward, and will be entrusted with things beyond your comfort zone but the Lord will enable you with everything you will need.
Cape and Theo
Our dear boys,
As twin brothers you have a unique bond that is yours, and yet each of you is unique and have each been fearfully and wonderfully made by God. It is such a privilege that God has chosen us to be your family. Always remember that you have been set apart and loved even before you started doing anything. Your dad, mom, and kuyas love you so much and will always cheer you on no matter what, so go ahead and pursue God’s purposes for each of you. We love you and can’t wait to savor each day and moment with you both!
Love,
Dad, Mom, Kuya Noah, and Kuya Ethan
We extended our Edamama registry for the twins as some have requested. Super thank you! 🙂
