Preggy’s Best Friends

Preggy's Best Friends

Pregnancy is an exciting journey in itself that leads to an even more exciting season when the baby comes out. I’ve been blessed to experience carrying inside me LIFE… twice! God is so good He has used me to bring forth life, and at both times without the feared discomforting symptoms such as nausea and vomiting. I have recently entered the third trimester of my second pregnancy, and have found five best buddies (apart from my husband!) that I think every pregnant woman will be happy to have throughout the nine months or so. If you’re looking for gifts to give your preggy friends, you can check out this list, too. Just make sure to ask your preggy friends first if they already have these (or need more of these)!

1. Supplements

Sample only. Make sure to ask your OB before buying any supplement.

This is probably the best investment a pregnant woman can make for both her and the baby. OBs usually recommend supplements like folic acid (for the first few weeks or months), prenatal vitamins, calcium, iron, and powdered milk drink for pregnant women. Of course, if you’re pregnant, you’ll have to take the cue from your OB as to what supplements to take. These can be quite expensive (especially the powdered milk!) so preggy momma’s friends can actually gift these. Just make sure to ask what particular supplement or powdered milk they need.

2. Book: What to Expect When You’re Expecting

This book by Heidi Murkoff and Sharon Mazel is very helpful, especially for first time moms (and dads). It gives you the right amount of information at the right time, and helps set the right expectations. As it says on the foreword, it’s “like having a personal obstetrician to guide you.” Reading the book also helped me discuss matters with my OB better.

There’s also a free mobile app of the same title, which feeds you with reads and a video week by week. I found the app to be enough for my second pregnancy, since my first and second pregnancies were quite similar (some moms can experience totally different pregnancy symptoms per child). While using the app will already be helpful, it will be very beneficial to still invest in the book since it has more information specific to some concerns or questions a preggy momma may have.

3. Pillows!

You can never have too many pillows, especially when you’re pregnant! When your belly gets bigger that it’s advisable to sleep on your side, whether you put one under your belly and another one between your legs or place them anywhere else, pillows can make all the difference! You don’t have to buy a body pillow. Your usual pillows will do, which gives you more flexibility for however you want to use them.

4. Preggy-friendly Makeup!

Yup, ‘coz not every makeup is preggy-friendly. A good number of people have been intrigued to learn I’m carrying a boy because they say that my skin is glowing and all.? Well, first, boy or girl, a pregnant woman will always be beautiful. Second, allow me to recommend:

Happy Skin: My favorite brand because it’s safe for preggies, easy to apply, long-lasting, and cares for my skin! You can read more about Happy Skin here.

Micellar Water: As much as I make sure I fix myself up every day, I make sure I take out all the make up and dirt on my face every night. Using micellar water is perfect for busy women because it doesn’t need much effort and it doesn’t need washing off. I used Happy Skin’s Micellar Water for three years until I finished my recent bottle and I got to try Simple’s Micellar Water. Either product does its job and leaves my skin clean, fresh, and supple every time!

5. New Discovery: Womb Support!!!

There’s that time during the pregnancy when your belly suddenly gets heavy enough to cause some back pains. When I first tried this womb support from Enfant, I knew right away that I needed one! The feeling was like having my pillows at the right spots!? Ever since I used it, I didn’t have back pains anymore. Perfect for those who love to walk and a perfect travel companion for preggies!

Twenty-nine weeks today! It’s the second week of the seventh month. Can’t wait to cuddle our newest bundle of joy!!! I love it when I feel his kicks and punches and hiccups and all! Thank You, Lord!!!
